British Sports Car Championship was originally created for group 7 cars that were known especially from Can-Am and USRRC. Later we could see there Group 4 cars such as Lola T70 Mk.3 or Ford GT40. But in 1970 when 2-litre Sports category became very popular in Europe, organizers decided to admit only these cars. Championship was cancelled during 1972 season because lack of entries.
